To Friends

Sale! 25% off Yak Yarn

The sale is over but do take a look at the most beautiful yarns ever..

Back in September, After 20 yrs. my cousin and friend , Jan was looking at blogs...guess what she found me.
We lost touch after my many back surgeries and my moving to Florida....

We used to ski and really be the best of friends. I thought of her often and
wondered what she was up to. Well now I know...she's knitting like me. So as in the past we speak almost daily.

She is a nurse now...and doing private duty. Gosh, missed out on alot....
We have caught up very quickly..I of course sent her to http://www.ravelry.com/. then she told me about
this specialty yarn she purchased....Mink and Cashmere.....wow.

I didn't know about it..so a few days later I go and get the mail and yes, she sent me that
beautiful 70% mink /30% cashmere from http://www.greatnorthernyarns.com/
. I do not need to tell you what a surprise and thoughtful gift from an old lost friend.

It just seems that we have connected right where we left off. Older, wiser (well???) and can't wait
to drink some tea together.

Thanks Jan..cause I have really missed you.....as Sly used to say, "We are family".......

To you,
darla

KNITTING FOR ME

I was having a slow start up knitting this new year. I knitted a
simple pair of fingerless gloves for my daughter. She said her hands
get cold when she is at the research library late in the evenings.

So being Mom and having a request for something I can knit, I preceded
to grab my needles and some beautiful "lambs Pride Cotton Fleece", and they were in the mail to her... that was a great feeling.

Now with all the beautiful yarns I have collected and needles I have to use
I've decided to make myself a scarf. Not a complicated one with my
mink & cashmere but with an acrylic (but oh so soft) which I purchased
for $.50 at a thrift store that I love to shop at.

Oh nothing fancy in the stitches either. Just plain old reliable garter
stitch.

I figure with the new yarns I purchased the last week online I'll be
busy knitting socks and new gifts for everyone this year..

Peace,
Darla

What Was I Thinking???

So last week we had some nasty late night rain and high winds. I'm walking the dogs and there it WAS
mouth open and looking for food.

I put him in a large flower pot. Looked online to find out what to feed him (or her). So I have some little
cans of "Chef Michael's" dog food.....perfect. The site said to feed it with a chop stick!!! Yeah, I have them too.

What I didn't realize (because of course I needed to feed the lil bird) is it NEEDS feeding every 1/2 hour from sunrise to sunset....Boy it is a cutie though.

So the next night another storm and glory be....the nest falls and is in great shape. So my newest buddy is very happy with his temporary home (we have no rehabs in South Dakota).

The next morning at 8:11 am he's verrry hungry. So my day has started..

This is now his 6th day with us ( the 2 dogs) and has feathers coming out...he is thriving.
It's always a great feeling when your kids thrive. He loves me to rub his lil head as he had 4 siblings that died in the storm...very cute.

I just can't wait til he's a full fledgling and show him how to get his own food....no fridge for this child....

Peace,
Darla

I've Got To Go!!!!!

After tapping all week end and now in extreme distress (I do have a disability, which I try to ignore) after bending my knees & tap dacing, pounding my toes then heels & then both
I can't do it all..

I don't remember feeling every muscle in my body for a very long time. They have been retired for quite a while.

I am not giving up but warming up more. I will not give in to the discomfort because I am having too much fun!!!

Voice is deeper but they need me with all those sopranos...dancing and keeping time well someone has to show the 16 yr. olds of the world that 60 is okay and it certainly isn't what 60 was for my Mom....

Keep smiling and "The Show Must Go ON!!!!!! Oh don't forget the Grammy's...,.

Peace and lots of Freeze It..

The photo to your left is about 1955, Norwalk Hospital photo. My Dad is the 3rd one from the left seated on the floor.

Wow..what kept me off Facebook so long. I was found quickly by a friend (a close one) from high school. Couldn't ask for a better find this time of year.

As of today many more friends from home & high school have gotten in touch via Facebook.

I thought I might get my Blog out there a little more, it is great, What a time of memories that are flooding back. It's great because they all are great ones.

I've baked a bit today but mostly rested, After the last year of knitting my hands hurts!! I now can start on ME!!!!

Have a great nite,

Darla
