What Am I Thinking Now???

So I have decided to attempt tatting. This is an art that I find fascinating and am glad
it isn't lost.
Also have started this really neat scarf using my telephone number. You knit the rows to
your number and then repeat. I'm using random pieces of all the feltable and fun
yarns that have been given to me (thanks Lou Lee & others). When finished I will
wrap sections tightly (so as not to felt) and will take loads of pics for all to see.

I 'm still making more slippers for the upcoming holidays (okay the end of the year).
Hopefully I can start the sweater for myself that I have wanted to make..Good Luck
to me on that one...

Peace,
Darla

ps: Thanks to all of  my new followers and the great comments that you have

  2. Darla,
It sounds like you're working on some fabulous projects. Are you teaching yourself how to do the tatting or is someone else teaching you?
    Take Care.

  3. I haven't seen anyone tat since the 1970's! Can't wait to see the results of your effort. Also, I bet those grandchildren are gonna love those cozy Christmas slippers!

  4. We're always happy to welcome new tatters!
There are many sites on the internet about tatting, plus many videos. You may be interested in checking out the "25 Motif Challenge" tatting site, which is a central site for bloggers who tat. There is no registration, and you will learn a lot about shuttles, threads and books and get to see 'works in progress'.

And I highly recommend Janette Baker's Book and DVD called "Learn to Tat". The DVD is exellent. It is available on the internet, and sometimes can be found at JoAnn Fabrics.

I also am a knitter (for over 40 years) and in 1993 our Knitting Guild hosted the Knitting Guild of American convention.
I look forward to reading your blog, which I found via Maria (Knackful Knitter), who recently made a Tatting Press invented by one of our 25-Motif tatting members! You have to love the internet!!!

  5. Hi Darla!! I am SO glad you are going to try tatting! It is such a portable craft since everything is big enough to fit in the palm of your hand.
I can't wait to see more of your projects whether they are finished or in progress!
Hugs to you! ....yes, you have to love the internet!
