Start of 2010 Resolutions

http://tricks-for-new-bloggers.blogspot.com/

This is a great blog as it gives you very EASY information on how to change up your blog.

This is something I have wanted to do for a while..change up my template to one that is definitely me. I like being able to control (oh, that's me) my destiny, okay maybe just my blog....

Now that I am on Facebook, which I am enjoying connecting with old and dear friends, I also can use this as a medium for my art, knitting and blogging.

I have alot of time but it never seems to be enough for when I want to vacuum, you now what I mean...vacuum or knit??? No contest here..knitting comes first.

I will stop for now as I want to look at the above blog for MORE info before I change it up...and must finish the throw rug that I started..

Peace to all & good health & wealth 2010,
Darla

V.I.P. MESSAGE TO ALL.....
Also need to get to http://www.ravelry.com/ and communicate on my groups. If you haven't checked it out do it for yourself this year....We are a GREAT group of people with so many talents.......

This is a photo I took earlier today from my back door. It is now worse, if you can believe it.
This is a new high (well low) for Christmas Day 2009...A blizzard that has not peaked as yet.
So Merry Christmas to all and please stay warm....

So much for a sunny Christmas!!! Just kidding, I knew the sun wouldn't be here. Well

Friends

The photo to your left is about 1955, Norwalk Hospital photo. My Dad is the 3rd one from the left seated on the floor.

Wow..what kept me off Facebook so long. I was found quickly by a friend (a close one) from high school. Couldn't ask for a better find this time of year.

As of today many more friends from home & high school have gotten in touch via Facebook.

I thought I might get my Blog out there a little more, it is great, What a time of memories that are flooding back. It's great because they all are great ones.

I've baked a bit today but mostly rested, After the last year of knitting my hands hurts!! I now can start on ME!!!!

Have a great nite,

Packages mailed

So yesterday was "Pack up gifts" to be mailed to Kansas. It is complete and lots of knitting projects which (I hope) they will enjoy.

I volunteered on Thursday at Good Sam Nursing home and watched the fifth gragers make gingerbread houses. Wow are they creative!! I never would have thought of a swing set made
made of pretzels and gumdrops. Icing for the glue of course. The boys can be proud as they helped a few of the residents make houses of their own (actually the kids did the work).

We had one lady who would spread frosting on her graham crackers THEN eat it. Not just one but many. So it was fun.

Then Thursday eve I went to audition for our local Community Theatre Group. I made it!!!! Don't know what part as yet but it's going to be loads of fun. Oh, did I tell you it's a musical!!!!
"Nunscance"....very appropriate for a Catholic High School graduate!!! It's so funny and it will be in the beginning of March. Finally found my calling......A NUN???

I'll keep you informed.

Peace,
Darla

I guess singing & dancing and learning lines & songs will be quite the task after so many years.

Surprise Box

Oh my gosh......this was in my mail box today. To have a friend that knows me so well still after these many years. I just cannot tell you what this means.

How did Lee Mae know that those 4 different size circular Clover Takumi Bamboos' are just what I needed?

Look at the yarns!!!! I will be busy enjoying each and every one of them. And a Christmas tree pin, just for me.

I miss seeing my dear friend. We have had a long and great friendship since I was 13 yrs. old.... I still have to finish the project I made for her
but have put it aside because of knitting for the grandkids.

I want you to know that I will be picking that project up immediately!!!

You are always in my heart & mind Linda..

Love you,
Lou Lee

I am blessed that my DGC appreciate what I do for them. It is all done with
much love...

APOLOGIES

Sorry for being gone so long but have been very busy knitting and volunteering locally.

Tomorrow I'll be packing boxes for 88 families in my local area so they can have a great Christmas meal.
Here in town they have done "The 29 Days of Christmas". Each day you were to donate an item from the list or $$$ if you could. They have almost filled "The Wards Store" front window.

One family who was here visiting for Thanksgiving (from another state) and bought a huge amount of goods that cannot be bought with Food Stamps. It really makes you feel great that others will help your community and not even leave their names.

So a shout out to all who give during this and any time of year to those less fortunate/

Knitting Presents

So today I finished a Christmas present and began working on another. Will put pics up after Christmas.

The project I completed today was made from t-shirt yarn which I made from cotton shirts. It was hard on my hands...really dried them out. It was fun to recycle though.

The next project is for one of my grand daughters...she's going to love it. I'm lucky that so far everyone enjoys my hand knit items they have received. I have read alot of knitters don't get that enjoyment of knowing an item they have knit for days or weeks is not appreciated.

Well going to watch "Dexter" and then head for bed...no wonder I can't get to sleep at night (a serial killer?)!!!

Peace,
Darla

"No Reply"

Oh what a great song by McCartney/Lennon......"No Reply". To have grown up and marked special events by "The Beatles" is magnificent. I love being a baby boomer and have seen and heard the wonderful musicians of our era.

It is odd how each song meant something different back in the day and reflected on that period of time in our lives.

I can still listen to all the wonderful music and remember the times. Frusteration, fun, peace & love among us all.. It's fun to know our children and now our grandkids are exposed and enjoying this music. It seems to mean something different for each of us. I was remembering an old boyfriend from my "Sweet 16" party. How funny is that.

Well enjoy this week.....and by the way GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!!

Peace & Love,
Darla (Stella)

Knitting Days & Huge Needles

Almost done with my 2nd celery sock of the pair. I can't wait to wear them so soft and comforting.
Have to complete a beautiful scarf I'm making for my Granddaughter....I went through one of my
stitch books and found a pattern stitch" Staggered Lace Fern Pattern", so feminine and delicate.
I know she will love it.

Now I have to start on Christmas gifts for the kids. Wish I could knit a sweater quickly! Haven't
gone there yet but will soon.

Maybe socks for the kids..yes, they would love crazy hand knit socks from Grandma. I love
playing with different stitch designs, they really are fun to make. Yes, progress made!!!!

Now the next problem I have is how to combine 3 or 4 different yarns at once to knit on
the large hand made needles (size 35 ) that my neighbor and I made. I love the idea of knitting
with huge needles but am not sure how to combine the yarns.

Have a great Sunday!!!

New Socks

The only great and fun thing about our cold, rainy weather is that I get to wear my wool hand knit socks that I made last winter!!

I started a new pair for myself last evening and have completed the first one
(yes, dpn's 7.5US) of the pair. They are Lanaloft Wool in celery.

I just love the softness of the wool...ooh wonderful. Third pair..just for ME!!!!

I still have some birthday gifts for the grandchildren to complete and also for
my sisters' birthday in November. Then it's on to complete Christmas gifts
knitting away.....

I went to volunteer day at our local nursing home. Had lots of fun and made a scare crow out of clothing & stuffed it with newspaper. I won 1st prize cause I brought 3 people with me. And the Pumpkin cake was delicious!!!

So, I have made a commitment to go at least once every month to visit, read, write letters or lose at scrabble. This I can do and have fun.

Well have a great Thursday and I'll be at our library for our reading group . It's interesting hearing the views of other people and what they interpret from the same book.

Knitting and Sisters

I can't tell you what all my knitting has done for me but I will try.

I just received some new yarn fromhttp://www.paradisefibers.net this morning. Oh what a pleasure to open that package of Brown Sheep Lanaloft, Celery and Twilleys Freedom Spirit Yarn in Soul. I already started a pair of socks for me!!!!!

I had the funniest day yesterday texting back and forth with my Sister. I needed her calf, leg & bottom of her foot measurements...so here she is in her office with an aluminum ruler .. texting me the numbers..all of a sudden I started to picture her going through the motions her big sister asked her to perform. No questions asked mind you just blind obedience. I began to laugh out loud so loud the dogs started to get upset. What if they have cameras?? Does she think I really went over the edge?? Well, on Nov. 25th her birthday she will know why I made her do these strange things at work.

It's hard to be far apart...we haven't seen each other in a few years (and that was at Mom's deathbed)and probably won't for a long time

So here's to all the sisters in the world who live a distance apart but can still laugh with each other over the silliest things we do. I love you Dorie.....

Win Yarn

Go here to this blog...http://www.rowanberryknits.blogspot.com/ she has a one year blogiversary and is giving away yarn...

Just a heads up Ladies.....

Rebecca won!!!!!

Paradise Fibers Website

Oh how I love looking at the yarns for sale on all the websites I go to. Especially http://www.paradisefibers.net and http://www.webs.com.

Just to pick two of my favs today. I can purchase $19.95 hank of yarn, which I could never afford in a LYS, for $5.99 and wait 3 days and it's in my hands. I love the experience of knitting with all different fibers.

Having no LYS nearby is a loss as I cannot fondle the yarn before purchasing. My yarn websites give me the chance in the description the touch and feel of this yarn. Thank you sooo much .

I also purchase my dpn's and knitting needles at these sites. I have always dealt with great people when calling and asking questions about my orders.

I need to learn how to combine different fibers to knit together. I'm still learning but want to use huge needles(35) 4 or 5 different yarns to make something. I'm working on that. Will go to http://www.Ravelry.com and ask in the forums how to manage this.

Have a great week (and it's raining here).

Saturday Night

Wow, had a blast last night. Went to see a local theatre group. Went with one of my neighbors
and actually had 1st row seats. (Helps knowing everyone) The play "Funny Money" by Ray Cooney , made you laugh through both acts and wanting more.

As English plays go it really was great. A big difference from seeing a play in NYC as our tickets were $8 versus $80 a seat and certainly not front row.

Will write tomorrow as I have to make up my knitting that I didn't do last night.

A Day Of Rememberance

I remember sitting the entire day watching the television when Katrina hit Mississippi and Louisiana knowing my son in law ,who was serving in Iraq ,didn't know the danger that was upon his immediate family and friends.

I called looking to make sure his Mom & Dad were safe as they left the area. They were. I spoke alot to my daughter as she had so much to worry about at that time.

His family lost alot but thank God they are safe. No more High School in Gulfport for his memories upon his return. I reflect on what has not been done to help more the Americans who still are in need of help in these areas.

Now I sit in front of the TV watching the funeral of Sen. Ted Kennedy. It has been quite a different day than we have seen in the Kennedy lives. I learned alot in the last few days of the Senator as a human being. He really did come into his own.

He will be missed by all as a champion for all who were in need or were just wanting the rights as Americans they should have.

I am knitting as it makes me happy and this is a celebration of a life .

Being a woman and having a disability and working for advocacy for others makes me sad to see him gone.

Peace,
Darla

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

I have missed blogging. I have had alot of knitting time since I last blogged.

The ADA Presentation went great. Next year, the 20th anniversary will be so important to all of us. Have been busy working advocacy online as well as locally.

I lost a dear friend last month. I can't express how hard it was for me as well as her family. Yes she is out of pain and safe but I miss her terribly and will never forget Verla.

I had quite an odd feeling in the pit of my stomach all day today. With Senator Kennedys' death I reflected on what an impact in my life and many others (baby boomers) has had on us. I think back to all of the tragedy that struck us during the time that we were teens. The changes that came out of the pain that was put on us as a Nation. It did shape us in many ways.

I am still proud to be a liberal democrat and so lucky to have been born when I was so that I can still feel a part of many important days in our history.

God Bless and peace,

Darla

Happy 4th of July

There was a time of family and many friends gathering around our home that we celebrated the 4th with
a huge picnic and fir.eworks

As I have gotten older the kids grew, married and have children and friends of their own
it is a time of remembrance for me. They have moved on to make their own memories of the past.

Family has moved all over the map. Parents and older family members are gone and memories of my past. So today is a look into the past of our Country and my past for the memories that have been. They are good memories.

Enjoy and have a wonderful and safe July 4th......

What A World

So we finally did it and have put a "real" comedian in office. Not that I don't think we need comedy in Washington,D.C. because we all need to laugh alot more. I wish Minnesota well as Sen. Franken can't do any worse than what has been in that state before.

I don't see any skeletons in his past and it does give us 60 votes, so what the heck we can try it for a while.

Also on the front our troops are leaving Iraq....well not really just pulling back a bit to watch from what I understand. I hope and pray that all goes well for the people of Iraq and let them have peace for a change.

I'm putting together my $10 Swap pkg. and am sending it out tomorrow. I love doing this every month. I enjoy the fun of sending and receiving a surprise in the mail every month. Thank you

http://www.ravelry.com/,

you folks rock and are #1 in my book. Many new friendships worldwide. Have learned alot about the lives of others and how they live. Imagine you can't get Kool Aid every where in the world. Who knew. But be careful as customs does check your pkgs, out when Kool Aid is included in the package.

So have a great night and enjoy the rest of the week.

The Last Few Days

Wow, what a June..so much time to reflect on ones self after losing so many young people. MJ what can I say but that he was a star like no other. Farrah had the courage I wish I could have in very hard times ....

It is sad when we see someone we have never met but have enjoyed for the last 40 years the spirit they had to entertain us. It reminds me of how hard the life we lead is. It isn't easy and thank goodness I am not in the spotlight.

June is strange here as last night the temp. actually was 57 degrees. It did feel good to open the windows to sleep by. Unfortunately it got me so relaxed that I read for an hour (2am). So I didn't get up very early.

I'm still knitting alot. I have been making project bags and purses from cotton yarn. Great for the summer to throw in the wash and hang to dry.

Well must go and finish a project and start another. And put the dogs to bed.

Peace and great week ahead,

Darla

Please Peace in the Middle East

I try hard not to put my political views in this blog but I can't right now. I am so sad to see Iran and people tonight. Thank goodness I don't have to worry about a home invasion in the middle of the night.

My heart goes out to all that can't sleep like I will tonite or watch a TV program of my choice. Or think and say out loud what I want, even if no one agrees with me.

It's hard to watch people suffering anywhere in this world.

I only hope for them to feel secure and have the peace I can have tonight.

Almost Summer

Not here in South Dakota!!! Yes, we had the parade & town picnic but the next day it was (and is) damp, clammy & rainy,....no end is sight.

Oh I was wrong it will be getting warmer but not drier. Yuck..I want sunshine and a cool breeze at night not clouds, rain & humidity. The birds are liking it though ....
dogs hate it as they like paws dry!!!! Me too....

Going to eat will write later...

Sunday after Saturday and before Monday

CUTE BABY BUNNY

I tried to blog on Saturday but I was too busy knitting. I am really hooked on this wonderful art.It was cold and rainy so why not!

It's a good thing I have lots of time to do this otherwise I would be in deep trouble. I can't seem to get enough. What a great addiction.

As I spend the majority of my time alone except for 2 lil dogs and an occasional phone call ,I have filled many hours with knitting. Seems I don't have time to read anymore and am backed up with 17 great books to read. I do have the television on so I can listen while creating.

I also think about my $10 Swap Group, which I adore. Friends all over the world and a surprise every month. And then I get to put a box together for them. It has been so much fun.

Well must get to bed and try not to think of what to knit next!

May all your flowers bloom this summer...

What A Day!!

Sorry but it was laundry day and I actually HUNG sheets and coverlets outside ( I must be getting old). They smell sooo good can't wait to climb in them in a few.

Also planted all my seeds and flowers...finally.
Now grow....

Have been knitting like crazy and trying to catch up in my groups on Ravelry.com.
Seems I don't have enough time again. Also just keep on knitting..can't stop ...I love it. Going to make some row counters with handmade clay beads for my $10 Swap Group.

Also working on invitations to 80 business people, government & medical persons for the "19th ADA Celebration" July 23rd. So it's going great and have a wonderful speaker for the presentation. We have a local Group to get the ADA word out and Peer Support to those in need. Love to gather information that can help others besides myself.

The day has well ended and good nite to all...sweet dreams,

Swapping

Well, I just finished making up my May swap package to go out. I am having too much fun. I just love meeting new people and getting surprise packages in the mail as much as I enjoy making them up to send.

This month was great..actually wrapped all the little goodies into a ball of beautiful Rowan yarn. I hope my swap partner loves it as much as I did making it up.

Tomorrow is gardening day...have to put the flowers & vegetables into pots and make sure all those seeds get in soil.

The weather has finally turned and is wonderful.

Going to knit some more and get a good book going.

Peace,

Darla

My Camera

I finally did it..I bought batteries. I cannot believe they cost me $8.79 plus tax.
Guess I need to invest in a charger as I do have rechargeable somewhere. What is the problem when a person (me) will not go out and purchase the darn batteries.

I have a digital so I have no excuse for not getting the film printed. So it is done and pics will be coming on my blog and Ravelry.

So watch for my projects finally. I have given alot as gifts but I can start from NOW..

Have a great week,
Darla

The Information Black Hole

Wow, there is so much information to be had. So many ways to get lost in the Black Hole of the Internet. I just love it except it has an impact on my writing....I don't do any when I get lost (not lost, just gaining more information).]

I find I get so involved searching and expanding the knowledge I gain I actually forget why I got on the Internet. Oh..yeah..it was to write on my Blog today or yesterday any many other days it seems.

I don't want to complain because I am learning so much about everything, like knitting...other blogger sites (which I enjoy sooo much), political views of others and just plain funny blogs.

I need to pace myself and make a daily list with the amount of time I will allow myself to do certain things....(.not really because I know I won't do that) read blogs for 35 minutes, knit for 3 hrs.,eat something 3minutes (as I no longer cook) so as you see this will not work.!!!!

So for right now I am going to make some iced tea (sun of course), complete one more knitting project and then start another and watch Paul Tracey (used to work with at Realty Executives, a close friend of his & ex Canadian race car driver...)do well at the Indie 500!!!!!!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend and remember all of our past and present military...

Peace,
Darla

I Am Back With A Vengance

Alright I really cannot explain what happened but I fudged on writing and looks like everything else online.....

I apologize to all. I really am enjoying life at 60 but seemed to be busy knitting, swapping and just being. Some small crisis now and then but all is well for the most part.

I have been interviewed for our local paper and have to get copies in the mail to my friends and family around the states. I'm sure they will be surprised. The young lady who interviewed me was great. I am not from South Dakota and have no family here but I enjoy the lazy lifestyle I have now...no hustle like back east..

I have been knitting like crazy and still find it hard to find a balance for reading and participating in the outside world (ok just away from home).

Gotta go but will start being more disciplined about writing and reading..I promise...

Peace to all,

Darla

Yarn Help

So I want everyone to be ready as today I need help...big time. If any of you have suggestions ( and we know who you are) please let me know here or on Ravelry,(dacg).

I have purchased some beautiful yarns that are discontinued but don't know what stitches to use or what pattern I could use to show it off and the pricing is wonderful..okay I'll give it up for us internet shoppers because we have no LYS, http://www.webs.com ,. I check so many sites for the best prices of yarn and shipping costs and have found this last week an abudance of wonderfully pricey yarns I could purchase for great markdowns.

I also need to mention http://www.paradisefibers.com as they are fast at getting my orders out.

  • I have been swatching with different size needles and trying all types of stitches which doesn't seem to help me. I am having fun though. Have to find a book that will help me with the textures and fibers of differnt yarns.

    So here they are:

    Cascade 128, 100% Peruvian Highland Wool (100 gms,128yds, size 10/10 1/2 needles), it is a wonderful yarn & I want more.

Berroco Cuzco, 50% Superfine Alpaca & 50% Peruvian Wool (100 gms, 130yds, size 10 Needles), ooh it is so soft.

Rowan Chunky Print , 100% Wool (100gms, 109yds, size 13 needles), its think & thin and wonderfully colorful yarn (many colors in it's variegation's).

I bought these on sale and want more & there's plenty for the getting...I just don't know enough of what to do with yarns with beautiful texture to it. Being newer to knitting and expanding my interest I need help.

I have 2 hanks of each (but will order more at reasonable prices too) to work with at the moment and want to purchase ASAP.

I have checked my pattern books and others to see what I might do..no luck. I went on the Internet to no avail..(some are yarns they no longer are showing patterns for...I also checked http://www.knitrowan.com.

My next step after tonite is to hit http://www.ravelry.com during the day and see who might help me..

Thank you ahead for the help...

    Good Night and peace,

    Darla

What A Day!!

Who would have thought the temperature could even be 90 degrees right now in South Dakota...where did spring go?

I understand I can turn the ac off tonite as it is going to drop down 30 - 35 degrees. Okay that sounds more like it.

I would rather have 75 or so that way I can start planting and watching the flowers grow.

People are very hard to satisfy. I can't have it both ways...cold or hot nothing in between.

I'm working on a scarf for my granddaughter A for her Oct. b'day. Need to start early and Kansas is where they will be not DC anymore. They'll be a little closer or at least within driving distance.

Have a great night...I am going to walk the dogs.

Peace,

Darla

Speculation- What Did The Handshake Mean??

So when did a handshake that was led by one person become NOT the thing to do. So much for etiquette in 2009. What did it mean..it meant a person did reciprocate by putting his hand out after the other person led with his. Big deal...

I want to understand why this is so wrong..it's not like President Obama "looked into his eyes and saw his soul", if you know what I mean.

I want more respect for each others and when did it come to pass that "WE" were so perfect in this world?? We have made mistakes (okay not as individuals but as a whole)...many through our history. How about reading up on Constitutional Law in this Country and learning becoming more literate on this subject.

Do the majority of people know what the "Rule of Law" is?? I bet not because most did not pay attention in "Problems in American Democracy" or "American History". And who of us researches information we hear to really try our best to know the facts that we hear in a day.

Enough ranting on my part..I do research and read...and find out what both sides of the argument's are ...both sides!!!! I feel in this way I might at least sleep better at night knowing I have tried my best.

Thank goodness we live here and not in a Country that has just passed "Shari Law" and tomorrow I must cover up my entire body or be killed.

Enough and I am sorry if I have not agreed with some but I have my opinion and you may also have yours....thanks to our Constitution. You need not agree with me and all comments will be read and respected..I promise.

Peace,
Darla

Happy Birthday To Me

I am now officially sixty, that's 60! I feel great and just made a Chocolate Mayo Cake with butter cream frosting. It's smaller than what Mom made for birthdays but I
can probably finish this one by Tuesday.

Opened more cards and they were very pretty....

Will write later.. am going to figure out what to knit next.

My 60th Year

This is a photo of one of my favorite birds..the Yellow Finch...isn't he beautiful.

Where did all those years go? I don't feel sixty...I am not like my Mom & Dad were at this age. Thank goodness I'm a Baby Boomer..you know the after WWII kids.

The age thing doesn't seem to bother me..I read, Tweet, blog and learned to knit.
My back is bad but as a whole the body is still okay. I do need to have my hair streaked but the wrinkles (lines) I earned. Mom always said "too much sun is not good for you". Ooh..she was right again.

I would love her to make my favorite, Hellman's Chocolate Mayo Cake with butter cream icing. It's been way too many years since I had that and family to enjoy it with.

So I was born April 18th, 1949 on a Monday. It was 5:36 AM, EST. I don't have much time left till the big day.

I have a friend here that baked a cherry pie for me to celebrate the day.

I am having a good year (except for surgery & pneumonia) and even have new yarn Rowan Chunky to play with. What more could one ask for but new beautiful yarn.

Peace,

Darla

Happy Easter And A Movie

I'm up late and not having to color eggs or hide them around the house (the dogs don't look for them)I decided to watch the movie "DOUBT"...wow. As I understand everyone has a different feeling or perspective after seeing this movie (it was a play on Broadway).

Being brought up in the Catholic Church and going to Catholic High school in the days when they wore habits, I found the movie really interesting. It brought back a feelings of being taught by nuns and just girls in the classes. The good, the bad and the indifferent too late 1960's high school girls.

It brought back feelings of missing the good old days and the changes we as teens went through during the period of the first and second Ecumenical Councils. Very strict then very different. I always have missed the Latin Mass, after all there was English on the right page of our Missals to follow and we took Latin in school. We did pay attention too.

We covered our heads and never wore slacks out of respect and there was special mood of ancient times for listening and speaking this "dead language". So maybe I am a little old fashioned in certain events of the past.

So if you get a chance see this movie..great acting and some memories of 1964.

Have a wonderful day today,

Darla

Holidays

When did the Holidays get so sad for some....no more Easter baskets, or new hats and spring coats. That is my memory of getting ready for the Easter day. We went to Church every Friday at 3PM for Stations of the Cross. We didn't eat meat but mac & cheese, pancakes or fish. Mom worked hard for us to have a great and memorable experience.

How I miss the family we had. Mom and Dad are gone now and our family is all over the map so the link of Grandparents, Aunts & Uncles..parents and cousins is no longer near.

We colored eggs so they could be hidden & found the next morning and then on to Mass (we fasted) and then home for Easter breakfast with the home so busy and looking forward to deviled eggs. We would have dinner at Gram's home with the entire family...what great memories I have. Sometimes Mom made dinner as we grew to adulthood everything did change.

Some of us moved, went in the military or were just not their anymore.

How I want those simple pleasant days back laughing, playing and enjoying the fun of family.

Happy Easter to all,
Darla

Change In The Air

I think I want to change my blog up...I need to put in some work now that I have a better idea of what I want. More color & refine it a bit...it's not popping for me
(beige is what I see)need bright & cheerful.

If it snows this week end that and more socks is what I will do.

Going to watch "Australia" on my dvr...how did I live without it.

Finished 2 pairs of socks and will begin a spring one next. Although it looks like I'll need more wool for our spring this year.

Have a great week end and enjoy life,

Darla

The End Is Near

So I am watching CNN and I see quite a surprise."Guiding Light" (I know.. a soap opera) is ending. I remember my Mom telling me how she used to listen to it on the radio while ironing. I watched & listened while cleaning, knitting and doing many other things in my daily life.

My children had nap times while "Guiding Light" and Reva & Josh were busy in their lives. My daughter and I had a connection when she was at college. She started to watch it.. (she's too busy for that now).

So after 72 years and old staple is leaving..I wonder why?? Not enough to research it but it was the kind of show I could miss for months or even years and then pick right up in the lives of all in Springfield.

Good luck to all the wonderful people who made my daytime a bit more fun (cause they always look great and bring people back from the dead).

When you live alone it's nice to hear interaction between others during the day even if they are trying to plot against each other. I often wonder where India went??

Have a great day have to run....

Peace,

Darla

A New Book..

Oh the blizzard is on the way..8-14 inches (at least I hope it's inches) starting this evening. So I will have lots of time to knit and read. Can't wait for the dogs tomorrow morning with all the snow. The puppy goes out & wonders where all the blowing leaves have gone ( oh, to be one of my dogs..).

I found a great book for all three methods of knitting socks...."How To Knit Socks, Three Methods Made Easy" written by Edie Eckman. It's got great pictures and instructions. And some new patterns for more socks. I found the instructions so much easier to understand and it is cuff down for "Magic Loop".

I love that I am learning more and enjoying it. I am almost done with the 2nd pair of socks and I can wear them in the blizzard as it seems we will also get more snow on Saturday. Whatever, where is Spring and those pretty little flowers we all look forward to. I just love the help I get on , so many wonderful groups with many knowledgeable woman. They know how to knit and keep friendships going forward.

So have a great evening and look for your spring flowers..cause I can't!

A Second Pair Of Socks

Yeah, I got it...almost finished with my second pair of socks.
I am hooked...now I have to figure out making them together on the Magic Loop.

I am amazed that I can learn something new everyday with my knitting. I really enjoy
creating new items.

Well I will have lots of time this week as we have snow headed our way AGAIN!!!
I am over it. No more winter please....

I would like spring to be sprung for sure.

Have a great Sunday to all as I must finish a few more rounds....and have a cup of tea.

I Love Socks

I am definitely hooked into socks...cannot think about anything else.
What yarn to use..waiting for my new Kollage square needles to arrive and what pattern can I create for myself.

You guys were right it is addictive. I am half through the first sock of my 2nd pr.
Ooh, it is great when you finally get it.

Our weather is holding...a little chilly (cold) but no snow here.

I need to catch up on my blog reading tomorrow. Don't want a relapse for sure.

Hope spring comes really soon...

All tulips & crocus to everyone,

Darla

My Socks

I'm hooked...I wore my 1st handmade socks today & actually walked all over and taking my shoe off to show them off. I am proud and can't wait to start another pair. It is addictive but what a great addiction to have.

Knitting with a finer yarn is challenging in sock making, I think when my new square Kollage dpns' when they arrive is what I will use for spring/summer socks. I understand the needles won't roll as much as the round ones. I'll let you know how they work out.

Under tornado watch til 10pm so I will make this short (even though I have my red shoes on) cause I PAY ATTENTION to tornadoes. I get laughed at alot around here but on would miss me if I were gone...he he....

Darla

I Am Back With A Vengance & I Won

Oh my goodness..first I want to thank all who kept me in their prayers & thoughts. So much for simple as I ended up with pneumonia and 104 temp.

I still have some of a cough but am finally up and feeling better.

Guess what??? I made my fist pair of socks....YEAH!!!! Couldn't knit or read when I was sick..much too weak but 2 days ago I said I will win and the socks will not.

I will take pics tomorrow and post on www.ravelry.com and here on my blog.

I really missed writing and cannot believe it has been since March 2nd. I couldn't even sit down to the computer & read..it was awful. I did receive 2 packages from my swaps which I need to respond to each of the ladies. It kept me going for sure.
I actually used some of the beautiful yarn that was sent to me by Cheryl...ooh she is great and has really gotten me hooked on Milagro kettle dyed yarn from Uruguay..I love it and can't wait to but some.

Well now I have to get going & catch up on my blog reading as I know I missed out on so much while being ill.

Thank you again for caring,

Peace

Socks on Saturday

I am so excited I think I understand the concept of the gusset!!! I'm getting ready to start that in a few minutes. I used beautiful yarn but I'm not what it is as yet.

I'm going to put batteries in the camera and I will take pictures & upload them...FINALLY. Not tonite but tomorrow...

So I am off to complete one of two socks. Really excited as I will be down & out for awhile and as I surely will still be knitting...socks here I go!! Tuesday is the surgery day...

I've been looking at some beautiful lace projects. Lots of work but loads of gratification on finishing a work like this. When I could still crochet I made a lace table cloth from thread (2 pieces held throughout) for my daughter. I used my own knowledge & made a design from that. It was lots of work but a great gift to her. I remember it took me almost 6 months to complete. Have to find a pic of that also.

Okay, the picture above is a couple of years ago close to where I live. I just loved all the little lambs with the moms. I have a few others I will share at some point which have the babies skipping & jumping around. They do smell alot...but are still cute.

Have a nice Sunday.,..
Peace,

Darla

Knitting And Technology

I am here trying to paste my Ravelry Badge to my blog. So much to learn and just not enough time. I do feel guilty making this statement as I no longer work outside of my home..

I am finding if I sit at the computer to interact with other human computers I cannot knit. I will find a balance (ok maybe not). I am surprising myself and helping my mind stay very active as I am learning so much daily. It's either knitting or the blog. No dusting, vacumning or even reading (which I am addicted too). I actually have a surplus of books to take on...looks like lots of summer reading to catch up.

I'm playing with changing up my blog a bit. Time to advance a little. I read so many wonderfully written that I need to improve a bit more..

It's lousy here...-12 with the windchill...oh, can't wait for spring.

Have a great week end as I need to work on my SOCKS....

Peace,

Darla

I Won An Award!!

I am privileged to know so many wonderful women in the blogging world. My intention was to blog so my grandchildren could see what I am doing in my life far away from them. I don't want this blog to be political (even though I might touch on it gently) or too deep. I am in a year that is life changing for me..I will be 60 and am having a great time of it.

To open ones self up to the world is not easy but I am lucky to know people like who gave me this wonderful award from http://www.blogger.com/www.craftygryphon.blogspot.com/ "The Helping Hand" fromhttp://www.sojournersplace.blogspot.com/ she is a wonderful example to follow in blogging. Sorry I have not felt up to my usual fun self..Hurting..pain and of course not getting the SOCK thing.

I watch to much news.. Last night was great. I am upset , as we all are with what is happening in our great Country. I feel I have been here before though and know we are a great people and will come together and help as one. If I gave up I would never knit the socks I want. I won't give up and as bad weather is heading right for me it'll be a great excuse do just concentrate on SOCKS.

Thanks to all for the encouragement and I am not giving up but am going to read about socks (again) tonight.I thibnk I'll get some decaf-espresso!!!

Hope all is well in your lives..

Peace,
Darla

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Sorry it's been a few days since I have blogged but I am having a terrible time knitting a sock!! Just can't get the hang of it yet.

I have made a few more fabric purses for some women in town. Also have gotten my Swaps out in the mail...but no socks.

Today it was 52 degrees here...oh how wonderful but thursday doesn't look good.

I have been reading other blogs and enjoying the exciting things they have been doing. Please feel free to go to their blogs (right hand side of my Blog) as so many interesting women.

I'm listening to our new President and it is a pleasure to here him speak. All my hopes our with him in these terrible times. I wouldn't want to take the world on my shoulders...besides I can't figure SOCKS out.

Have a great evening & I will have much more to say tomorrow..

Peace,
Darla

Oh, That Sock !!!!

Here I am again..never thought one little sock could be my death...okay, so I got to the heel flap & then the gusset is what messed me up. Maybe a tube sock????
No, I am not giving up yet..it is snowing (a little) and cold and tomorrow is Saturday and I will work this sock until it is finished.

See I had gotten too cockey about the little thing last night..it fit correctly and I loved it .....then the gusset ( I never called that thing near my ankle that before) happened and it was downhill from there. It is harder using smaller needles to knit with and of course that beautiful Lily Chin yarn..uhmm..Patience and it will happen.

So my small surgery is postponed until Tuesday the 3rd of March.. figures it took me all this time to finally go and now the date has changed. More time to work on "The Sock"!!!

Have a great day tomorrow and I'm going to sock the sock...

Peace,
Darla

The Eleventh Hour

Okay, so it's only going on 10PM here...I am an east coaster though so my inner body clock says it's the 11th hour...where is the NY news??

I tore the test sock out and have started knitting the REAL one. I actually am half way on the heel flap. I am really excited as I never thought I would have the patience to knit any object much less a pair of socks. Good for me, I guess this is my year to fly out of my mold (kidding..I don't have a mold Mom Said they broke it when I was born).

I feel terrible that I have no time in my days to vacuum, dust or even cook my delicious meals anymore. Knitting and blogging have taken over. I needed a substitute for the physical & spending I used to do. So I have found my way...

Being a hippie (still.. but more mature) I took all my batik an created a knitted fabric purse of my design for ME!!! This is the first piece I made for ME, not the last for sure. I really have surprised myself it's professional looking.
I do make time for the dogs as they are my kids. I love talking to them..my words are very important to them for sure.

I even have a surgery (not plastic) coming on Monday..so I guess I will be away a few days from blogging. It's nothing serious but has taken me years to get to the point of having it done. Be brave and go for it....I am.

Have to go now as I need to work on my socks.I do need to get more (different sizes) knitting dpn's and some Options tips (7US seems to be my fave).

Thanks to all of you who have encouraged me along the way. I love your blogging and especially your knitting.

Peace & tomorrow is Friday!!!!!

Oh, That Sock !!!!

I can't tell you how much it means to me when someone has written a comment on my Blog. It really isn't hard, you can even be anonymous. I actually have people in my immediate family who believe I will virus them. Well, I am older and wiser and much happier in my life this year because I have found blogging. It gives me an opportunity to meet other people throughout the USA and the world.

I know I am not a published author but I read...ALOT...and I have thoughts that I can share and experience is always on my side. Besides reading other blogs with interests similar to mine open up the gateway of learning from others.

Oh, I don't have to agree with anyone in this world but it is great to see others opinions who are as passionate as I am but they have another way of knitting the patterns together for a different spin and that's great.

I love the groups on, http://www.ravelry.com, as it has really expanded my world. How much more positive can you be than when giving & getting in knitting (or crocheting). I've learned so many wonderful things from the women here...about fibers, fabric knitting....skills and just plain fun and encouragement with every step.

I started my 1st sock yesterday and I think I get it....it was too small for any human I know but it worked. So tonight I'm going to do it for sure (correct size & all). Wish me well as you might receive a pair from me some day!!!

Peace and I'm watching "Lost" tonite,

SOCKS!!

I did it I have now started my first sock. Yes, I am using DPN's because even though I have the book "Magic Loop", I cannot figure it out as yet. I think it is because I haven't tortured myself by making a pair on DPN's.

I have been very busy making fabric knitted purses...they are great. I created my own design and went to work. They are now complete and I love them.

So 20 minutes ago I started a sock...I have 4 rows complete (ribbed pattern)..panicking a little over heels & gussets but I'm not even close yet. No worry I shall seek HELP!!!

I certainly hope everyone has started Monday well. I did! So far so good.

Going to knit those socks and will have much more to write tomorrow.

Peace,

Darla

Friday the Thirteenth

So what is it in all of us that we want to be more than we are. Blonde or dark hair, brown/ blue eyes, thin or over weight we want to change & we can...hair dye/contact lenses, diets & excercise. Are we then another person..NO, we are the same inside.

The outside cannot change the inside..the heart of each of us. Why then do some think they are superior to others?

Today was a day to make a check list in my mind and see what I could change inside..
be kinder, not so critical and try to listen more to the people around me. They may be only acquaintance's but they are a part of my world...we all live here so let's try one at a time to not look at the differences but at the things in which we have in common.
So I will be kinder and look for that forgiveness and compassion as I knit the new life I have decided to have. I may not make it 100% but I am human and hopefully I will remember what I wrote.

Happy Valentines Day and Peace,

Dar

Tention Too Tight ....

Sometimes when we knit we must keep the tension on our yarn tight, not too tight but enough to keep the stitches together. It reminds me of the times I have had in my life....keep it loose but not to loose as to have the stitch fall off or not mingle and blend into the other stitches.

Sometimes it is alright not to blend....just keep going and trust that as I knit and gain more experience and knowledge of this craft, I will be more comfortable
and I will knit socks one day.

Peace,

Darla

A Touch of Spring

It rained, it snowed (a little) and rained again but I can see green grass...spring is coming. I really have been knitting like a crazy woman.

I have 3 purses that I designed made from fabric that is knotted at certain lengths & then knitted together. Oh, this has been fun!! If it wasn't for www.ravelry.com
and http://heatherknitz.blogspot.com/ who happens to do this for a living I would have never thought I could do it.

Thank you Heather as I am having a great time creating...

I have a new friend on a blog who is going through a life changing ordeal at the moment. I have lost my Mom & Dad so I know how hard it is when one of them is so sick. Keep her in your prayers and her family. Keep strong it will all be fine no matter what we have to keep faith.

Okay, so I did watch C+SPAN2 today & yes it drives me crazy watching & listening to
"The Hill". Remember that song "what's going on....", well that's what I kept saying all today. Enough just get on with it.

Have a great day tomorrow and

PEACE

Fabric & Rag Knitting/Crocheting

http://heatherknitzpatterns.blogspot.com/

Oh another wonderful contest to enter...You have to all look at Heathers' inventory & blog.

I am in a Fabric Knitting group online & I have learned so much I actually have made a Rag Clutch (purse) for my daughter out of beautiful material I had. I ran downtown with it today to see if there is a market in our little shops here. I'm hoping so I better get knitting different bags for the summer months.

I am enjoying www.ravelry.com & writing my blog so much. I cannot tell you how much this has opened up my life again. I received my package for the 1st swap ($10.00) today. Oh I was like a 12 yr. old. Redcurtain handmade a knitted piece that says "SCOTTIE" on top and a scottie dog in the pattern of the work. She sent a great book to read & she did so much research to find what I liked that she hit it spot on!

This definitely is a turning point in my life for the good. More friends all over this world...
We knitters are very special as we have the spirit of making others happy. I know that for sure. I am making friends for the rest of my life...

The Fabric in Our Lifes

I started knitting a fabric piece today. Nothing like taking old clothes (even jeans) & cutting them up to make a new rug or other interesting piece. I've had some fabric that is really bright and fun..so that is where I started...on 15 US needles...Have to get a rotary cutter though
that will work better than tearing or scissors.

I bet I can use that $5,000 old wedding gown too. Let's see...that is a fabric of my life so , why not...always wanted a very expensive one of a kind rug.

It's Sunday and have been cooking & knitting all day..oh I did take the dogs out too.

Have a good week....yeah Monday!!!!!! I actually saw green under the snow so spring is
on it's way......

Peace,

Darla

A Cloudy Day In More Than One Way

So it's Saturday and why am I watching C-SPAN2 !!! I had to hear the voices myself cause I certainly didn't want to take any one else's word for what our Senators were saying......

I wonder if they are in this world & how one side (not mentioning who) cannot come forward to make a difference & help for a CHANGE. Come on, for 8 years they were not conservative or fiscally responsible, so what makes them think waiting & not adding their names to a vote in a responsible manner will make the last 8years to go away. Wake up!!!!! America is watching and we will respond in elections. They still have jobs, homes and health care. So what......

Okay, I'm working with fabric today...cutting then rolling into balls and knitting. Now I know what to do with all that fabric I have in two totes...it's great 15US needles and go for it.

Have a great nite.....

Peace,

Darla

Sorry, about the rant but I am watching closely & would love to see our Country as one...

A Swell Day

Gosh, it's still 35 out here. Almost spring....not yet though. I mailed my 1st Swap package to Amie today..can't wait till it arrives. I know she will enjoy it.

I ran lots of errands today as sitting outside & enjoying the weather really wasn't an option. I'm still trying to knit socks...either not the right needles or the wrong yarn (well wrong for me....too skinny) but it will all come together in time.

The TV was crazy today...watching the Hill just gets me going. Make a decision already, after
8 yrs. of putting America in this situation (losing jobs that will not reappear and much more), the majority of the GOP has decided to be fiscally responsible....where was that before??? Please someone tell me......will they ever get "We Are The People"...just one!!!!!

Okay on to pleasant thoughts so I don't stay up all nite fixing Washington. I love my children & Family. It's very difficult to be so far away from all. The grandkids just are such a blessing for me. They are great people...Mom & Dad are doing a good job. Even though we are so far apart the kids always say or do something to ping my heart. I treasure though moments.
Besides, I'm the one that taught them how to roll down a hill at West Point Academy and get are clothes full of mud & dirt. They will never forget that.

I am going to leave for now as I am going to make the attempt again to knit the darn socks, they really can't be that hard...you can usually buy them anywhere. Even the corner store in a rural town.

Have a great weekend.
Peace,

Darla

Beautiful Yarn

Oh my gosh..go here and see the most beautiful yarn ever http://craftygryphon.blogspot.com/. She also has a great blog that I am enjoying following. As Mom said "a little knowledge is dangerous" so I must keep up & learn more.

So it was almost 40!!!!! So today was the time for a new hairdo..My local shop "Vintage Hair Parlour" is great. The shop feels as if you have stepped into the 1800's.

Now I have to say Melissa isn't even close to that age (25 ha ha) that she would remember the Good Ole Prairie Days. She has a great sense about her. Thanks for the style kid..I'll be back so you can tough it out with me again.

She's going to get a surprise of an art piece I am knitting. It can hang on her wall at home. I actually have seen some old framed pieces here in SD that are made out of hair (past loved ones). Nooo, I am not going to do that but thought it was interesting.

So see you later...

Darla

Options And Opinions

I just love my Harmony Nickel Options tips....Oh and as far as opinions & comments on this blog of mine I am appreciative that to the people that are reading and commenting.
I do not expect people to agree with my opinions nor me theirs but I do like to know the other side. Just like knitting one side is the side you want to show and the other may still look great but the pattern doesn't see it that way.

I hope that made since to all. So, we all can have our spin on everything but we all must be proud Americans that we can have our own voices and do the best that we can.

Peace to all,

Dar

The Handknit Coat

This is Humphrey Bogart at age 9 in the winter month of November 2007. It was verrry cold as I had clipped his coat. Obviously the red boots are just too cool.

He is tolerant of me dressing him in winter gear as long as it doesn't restrict him. He is a cutie.

Alright so as I was tagged now you are tagged and need to pick the 6th photo in the 6th folder and write about it on your blog...

Thank you Elle for the fun,.,,,,,,http://toliveistopray.blogspot.com/

I'll catch you another time. So go for it...this way we get to meet more bloggers and knitters....

The first lucky blogger ishttp://craftygryphon.blogspot.com/. Thank you so much for commenting on my blog. So here is your reward. You can check it out. It was fun.

And the next lucky duck is http://www.dkswife.blogspot.com/. I am excited that you are commenting.

I have to finish this up as today is LAUNDRY day!!!!!!! And I have to finish mine.

I'm still willing to give the new Administration a fair chance. I want to see the glass 1/2 full and not empty. I knew it would take much more than 100 days to make a difference as we didn't get here over night...just seems that way.

Peace,

Darla

To Unravel Old Yarn

As someone who worked hard on Sen. Daschles' reelection in South Dakota & knew how much he had done for us, I was encouraged he would be in a position to help the Country again.

I am disappointed in all of our legislatures, they are in there positions because of the people in our Nation. What is going on is nothing new in politics. Read our history..back track & see it hasn't changed.

I do believe Pres. Obama does want to do good & does believe in "The Rule of Law", but changes cannot come in 100 days of office. It will be slow & we will take 2 steps back & one forward. We WILL make it though and will be much better for it.

Keep our chins up & support those that really want to change. Keep knitting & unravel & soak the old yarn ...it is renewable and so are we.

Peace,
Darla

Knitting with Fabric

I just raided my material for sewing...found some beautifully bright florals to rip & tear to knit with. Oh I love the idea of using t-shirts, sheets & a wonderful choice of fabrics to knit for yourself.

Go to:http://heatherknitzdesigns.blogspot.com/ wait until you see her blog. Wow!!!! What a talent. I belong to a group on www.ravelry.com that she started and there is hope for all of us.

Anyway, I made choc. mint chip brownies...I don't share those with the dogs (NO CHOC.).
I'm not going to blog too much as I have to address my knitting.

I hope all of you have a great evening...I'm going to.

Peace,
Darla

Learning to Knit

Good Day. So I played with changing my blog up & getting to know more about it. I appreciate Blogspot & Twitter as they allow you to learn. Believe me the info is there.

I am trying to write every day but I have to knit for sure today. I touched the yarn yesterday but had no time to knit. I must today..maybe the sock project?? (oh my)!!!

I am addicted to this now but I am finding the greatest people to interact with. I live in a very rural area & did not raise my family here. It's hard to be involved when kids aren't in school & you do not have a job outside the home.

Have to leave for now & Twitter the kids.....
Have a great Sunday.

Peace,
Darla

What A Day!!

So this was such a beautiful today. Couldn't ask for better weather the last day of January.
I had to get out & I did. The snow was melting with 46 for our high today, actually had to go inside & put a spring jacket on & take the winter coat off. Love it!
So much for that it's 28 & windy now...almost Feb.

I have been on the computer alot today as I needed to do more research on blogging set up.
My brain hurts....then I did more research on grant writing.

Lots of sitting and no progress on "THE SOCKS" as yet. Not true I did a swatch...

As Scarlett would say, "tomorrow is another day".

Have a great Sunday & hope (pretty sure) the Steelers will win.

Peace & good thoughts,

Darla

I WON!!!!!!!

Wow...I won. I love blogging, thanks Tab. I am so excited as I was reading a blog ( a fellow knitter) and saw it was her 3 yr. blog anniversary and as I have just started I thought I would enter her contest (read below). Never did I imagine I would be the winner.

It's 46 outside & sun is shining and thank you Elle...what a day.

Peace

Friday Nite Knit

Well this is Friday and I'm going to do a swatch to check on the gauge of the yarn I want to make my very 1st pair of socks. It may not feel exciting to you but I keep promising myself I will do this.

It seems that every time I start I find something else to knit. Dishcloths?? What's with that. I'm one person and how many can I own...I still have the 1st one I made. Oh, it's a different pattern.

Monk & Psych are on tonite so lots of laughing while being frustrated not knitting socks well. I think after I read the pattern I get obsessed with the fact that I have to turn & make a heel & then a gusset. Don't worry I'm still doing better than Congress. My problem is a pr. of socks & as far as I know it really won't affect anyone else but me!

Enjoy your Friday nite & see you on Saturday.

Peace & laughs (lots of them),

Darla

Oh, so tomorrow I want to finish setting up my Blog. It will be study time for me (and Sarah P.,.you know the next Pres.), anyway must go before I get in trouble.

1986

What memories I have of 1986...myt 3rd back surgery (22 mos. in a hospital bed) & watching the terrible Challenger failure. My life wasn't that bad...it was an eyeopener for all of us.

So, laundry almost done...yeah!! Then I can concentrate on tv? knitting?? or food!!
I actually got to speak to my daughter today as they had an ice storm out East.
Went to the doctor & all is well. Tried to talk him into reading my blog (maybe not a great idea, it may prove insanity) but he's not really into it..I'll work on him.
He's young & has a 2yr.old so what was I thinking...I'm his patient of course he has no time.

Went to lunch at our local Bistro..."Wards Store" , here in De Smet, SD. It's great....espresso, breakfast, lunch (homemade of course) & all the baked goods you could want. Patty is a riot..Showed her my blog & my knitting, told her I would write about my little town lunch experience. It's great to solve the problems in the world around your local eatery. Oh, you can shop too...clothes ,books & fun stuff. And always chatter!!!!

Okay Patty....DEAL with it.

Have to finish laundry...be back later more to say.

Peace,
Darla

Following Patterns

Well today is Sunday. It is sunny out and cold. I've tried to think of something to knit but I think I burnt myself out after the holiday sprint.
Yesterday I wrote every politician that has ties to South Dakota...Tomorrow will be an email day from them. More layoffs...huge state budget cuts...how sad for all of us.
Enough of that!

So I'm trying to change the pattern of my life by writing and knitting every day. I don't work anymore but seem to have not enough time in the 24 hours given to me. What am I doing up at 3AM....reading, walking dogs for the nite and just don't lay down, get a drink (might die of thirst ya know) then to the ladies room . No I am not hyperactive & never have been. Guess it's cabin fever or I might miss something.

Tomorrow will be busy as I have appointments. Yeah a reason to leave the home. Can't wait for spring, not sure why as I really don't mind the snow or even the cold cause I can wear different clothes and sometimes 2 sets(kidding)at a time.

Do need new boots next year though...but not for many months.
Alright back to patterns. I seem to want to create my own spin on a knitting pattern I happen to be using. What is wrong with me that I cannot follow the darn thing? I understand it but now that I think about it ..must be my willful nature. Well that's what the nuns said...

Have a great day & start Monday by NOT following a pattern but step out of your groove, I am!!!!

Peace,
Dar
